This is an exciting opportunity for someone with significant post qualification experience in planning development management to play an important role in the delivery of a first class, customer orientated planning service.

Our track record in planning and development has delivered a progressive approach to growth and economic investment, balanced with preserving the heritage and natural quality of the Borough. We have followed a path of strategic development on key brownfield sites accompanied by infrastructure investment which has enabled us to be one of the top deliverers of homes and jobs in the region. The Council receives a broad variety of proposals across the Borough, with wide ranging opportunities for development, along with many high level constraints providing interesting challenges for decision making. We need you to assist applicants in their submissions and provide professional advice to all customers including applicants, agents, members of the public and Elected Members.

You will not only support the Planning Development Manager in managing applications/appeals primarily of a strategic, controversial and/or complex nature, but there will also be scope for you to deputise for them as your skills develop.

Our offices are located in the new settlement of Kings Hill, a major contemporary redevelopment of a famous RAF base, near to the historic town of West Malling, that now has 3000 new homes together with one of the most successful business parks in the South East. It is a superb place to work, with easy access and parking, the vibrant business and residential community enjoys shops, restaurants, leisure and transport links which are outstanding for a rural location. Its success is underpinned by the concept of 'placemaking' which has shaped an alluring destination where people live, work and play.
