Are you an organised and customer-focused administrator with excellent attention to detail? Do you enjoy working with technical information, maintaining accurate records and supporting the delivery of an important public service? If so, we would like to hear from you.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated Building Control Technician to join our Building Control team. You will support the administration and processing of Building Regulation applications and work closely with customers, colleagues and our professional Building Surveyors to help maintain a high-quality service.

About the role

As a Building Control Technician, you will provide technical and administrative support for Building Regulation applications. Working closely with Building Surveyors, customers and colleagues, you will help deliver an efficient, accurate and customer-focused service to residents, businesses and construction professionals.

Key responsibilities

  • Processing Building Regulation applications and checking that submissions are complete and accurate.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records using IDOX, Uniform and associated systems.
  • Responding promptly and professionally to enquiries by telephone, email and correspondence.
  • Providing general advice on Building Regulations and application processes.
  • Researching property and site histories.
  • Processing personal and local land charge search requests.
  • Preparing and issuing documentation throughout the application process.
  • Taking application payments by telephone.
  • Providing support across the wider Planning Service when required.
